NEW ORLEANS ? Tulane junior Sara Radosevic had 16 kills and was one of four Green Wave standouts to record double-digit kills as Tulane spoiled the University of New Orleans' home volleyball debut on Tuesday, defeating the Privateers 3-1 (30-20, 31-33, 30-22, 32-30) at the Human Performance Center.
The Green Wave (3-0) got 12 kills each from Jen Linder and Ksenija Vlaskovic, while Bridget Wells tallied 11 kills and 12 digs. Tulane snapped an eight-game home win streak for UNO (1-3).
Junior outside hitter Dobrilla Kovacevic led the Privateers with a match-high 20 kills, and sophomore newcomer Nicky Valenti had 20 digs. Lindsey Boler had 14 kills on a .281 hit percentage, and Lindsey Loyd chipped in 11 kills.
UNO made the match interesting with a come-from-behind win in the second game. The Privateers fought off four game points and actually trailed 29-26 at one point before rallying back for a 33-31 win.
Boler put the game away with a kill off a perfect set from Jaci Bayley.
But the Green Wave came out strong following the game two intermission, jumping out to a 12-6 lead in the third game and never looking back.
In the deciding fourth game, Tulane once again had a 29-26 lead only to see the Privateers rally with four straight points. But the Green Wave recovered, finishing the match by claiming the final three points.
UNO will continue a four-game homestand this weekend by hosting the Four Points by Sheraton Invitational. The Privateers will host Nicholls State at 7 p.m. on Friday.
