UALR Continues Home Success in Win over Lady Privateers

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - UALR put together several big runs as they increased their home win streak to 18 games in a 67-51 victory over the University of New Orleans on Saturday afternoon.

Kim Sitzmann paced UALR (18-7, 10-4 SBC) with 20 points. Nikiya Hughes added 17 points while Anshel Cooper scored 16.

UNO (12-13, 6-8 SBC) was led by Brittany Helm, who notched a season-high with 19 points. Helm shot 7 of 12 from the field and 5 of 6 from the charity stripe in the game. Le'Della English and Jada Frazier had eight apiece.

English got things going early for the Lady Privateers, making two early three-pointers to give the team an 8-6 lead. UALR would score the next 14 points with Hughes scoring seven points during the stretch for the Trojans. With UALR up 20-8, Helm would end the run with a lay-up, the first UNO basket in just over five and a half minutes of play.

The Lady Privateers would have another scoring drought going another five and a half minutes without a basket from the field as the Trojans would go on a 12-2 run to push their lead up to 17 points at 32-15.

UALR would close out the half with a 38-21 lead as Sitzmann and Cooper had 13 and 10 points, respectively at the break. Helm and English had eight apiece for UNO heading into the half.

The Trojans took off right where they left off, scoring the first six points of the second half before Helm made two shots from the charity stripe to end the run. UALR kept the scoring up following the Helm free throws increasing their lead to 25 at 57-32.

Frazier got the Lady Privateer offense going in the final 15 minutes. Frazier after starting the game 0 for 5 from the field in the first half began to produce in the second half.

The guard from Columbus, Ga. made 3 of 5 from the field and both shots from the free throw line to get eight second half points for the Lady Privateers.
