NEW ORLEANS - Privateer baseball fans will get a chance to wear what the players wear as the University of New Orleans athletic department auctions off game-worn jerseys beginning April 7 and running through April 16.
Sponsored by the US Army, the Privateer baseball team will wear commemorative desert grey camo jerseys with Privateer script when they take on LSU on Wednesday, April 16 at Maestri Field.
Online bidding kicked off on April 7 and will continue to run on the UNOPrivateers.com web site until 4 p.m on April 16. Starting at 5 p.m that day, the bidding will move to Maestri Field, where fans can place bids on the concourse, across from the press box. All bidding will come to a close at the end of the sixth inning. Fans who are unable to attend the contest against LSU can call John Barranco at (504) 289-0779 until the end of the bidding period.
The online bidding will start at $150, though fans can purchase the jersey instantly for $750.
All money raised will go to a Privateer Athletic Foundation account specifically directed at supporting the baseball program. The PAF is an organization that aids UNO student athletes in their overall development and welfare.
Following the auction, those who have won jerseys will be contacted by a member of the UNO athletic staff.
First pitch for the contest against LSU is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
