NEW ORLEANS - The University of New Orleans women's swimming and diving program fell to cross-town rival Tulane 117-76 on Friday evening at the Lakefront Aquatic Center.

UNO newcomers Bethany Salter, Thea Haemmerle and Rachel Cogley paced the Privateer efforts in two events apiece.

Salter led UNO in the 200 free (2:16.76) and 200 IM (2:34.36) with Haemmerle doing the honors in the 100 fly (1:06.45) and 100 back (1:18.69). Cogley topped both the 100 free (1:02.65) and 100 breast (1:22.26)

"Tulane is the fastest opponent we will see all year," said UNO head coach James Winchester. "This is an opportunity to see where we are and what we have to work on."

In men's exhibition swimming, Jarryd Gregoire swept all four disciplines at 100 yards. Ryan Moss finished second in three of the events with Eric Schneider picking up the other second place finish.

The UNO men will open their season along with their female counterparts next Friday against Incarnate Word. The teams will then continue their stay in San Antonio on Friday with a dual against Trinity.
