NEW ORLEANS - Brandon Peterson scored 16 points and was 8-for-8 from the field to lead Arkansas State to a 66-52 win at New Orleans on Saturday.
Martavius Adams posted a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds, and Rashad Allison had 13 points as ASU (14-9, 9-3 Sun Belt Conference) snapped a six-game losing streak at UNO.
Freshman point guard Carl Blair paced the Privateers (7-17, 2-11) with a career-high 23 points. The Houston product had 14 points in the second half, but was the only Privateer to hit double figures.
UNO shot just 32 percent from the field, including 22 percent in the second half. The shooting struggles offset a solid night on the boards, as UNO grabbed 15 offensive rebounds but could muster just seven second-chance points.
ASU, meanwhile, shot 53 percent and was 6-for-14 from 3-point range. The Privateers were 4-for-17 from beyond the arc.
The Red Wolves led 36-28 at halftime.
UNO was down 45-34 with 15:49 to play when the hosts made a run. A 9-1 run cut the margin to 46-43 with 10:09 remaining, but the Privateers could get no closer.
UNO made just one field goal the rest of the way.
The win was ASU's first at UNO since Feb. 6, 1999.
