SAN ANTONIO, Texas
– The New Orleans Privateers (12-13, 2-7) took two sets to extra rallies, but fell 3-0 (30-28, 25-18, 30-28) to the Incarnate Word Cardinals (6-13, 4-6) on Saturday at the McDermott Convocation Center.

The Privateers had a balanced offense early, and were able to hold the Cardinals in the early to middle portion of the set. New Orleans led 19-15 when Incarnate Word started to make a run to close the gap to one. New Orleans still had set point, leading 24-21 but the Cardinals got two kills after a service error to force extra rallies where they eventually took the set.

Incarnate Word went on a 9-3 run to manufacture a seven-point lead at 15-8. The Cardinals led by as many as 11 in the second set before eventually winning it by seven. The Cardinals had 17 kills in the set and hit .364 as a unit.

In the late stages of the third set, Incarnate Word was leading 20-15 and had match point at 24-19. The Privateers came back though behind a strong flurry from Lane Hindenburg who recorded kills on four straight rallies to push it to extras. Both teams traded opportunities at set point, but it was the Cardinals who prevailed, breaking a 28-28 tie on a service ace before the match finished on a Privateers set error.

Blessing Dunn led the Privateers with 12 kills while Cara Sander and Rondolyn Bryant each had nine. Hindenburg and Kaitlyn Grice each posted five kills. Shaylene Reimer recorded 17 digs and Dunn and Celeste Ramirez each had seven digs. Grice was in on two of the team's three blocks.

Autumn Lockley led the Cardinals' attack with 16 kills on 30 attempts (.467 percentage). Bryaunea Hall added 13 kills and Angelique Vidaurri had six. Incarnate Word hit .296 as a team and had six service aces. Taylor McClelland led the team in digs with nine and had 15 assists.

The Privateers will return home to take on Mississippi Valley State on Tuesday, Oct. 27.
