THIBODAUX, La.
– The New Orleans Privateers baseball team (14-36, 3-24 Southland) were even in the hit column, but fell behind early and left 11 runners on base in a 6-0 loss to the Nicholls Colonels (32-16-1, 17-10) on Sunday at Didier Field.

The Privateers got an early threat with two singles from the first three batters including a single by Sam Carriere that extended his hitting streak to 14 games, but could not crack the scoreboard off of starter, Justin Sinibaldi. When the Colonels came to bat in the bottom half of the first, they struck for four runs and stole four bases in the inning. The biggest hit came off the bat of Justin Smith who lined a two-run double down the first base line.

New Orleans got occasional base runners against Sinibaldi, but did not have more than one base runner from the second through sixth inning. Nicholls had a couple of chances to blow the game open early including in the fourth when they loaded the bases with no outs. However, Jordan Priddle got a grounder into a force out at home and a double play ball to keep the score at 4-0.

The Colonels struck for solo runs in the fifth and sixth inning. In the fifth, Kyle Reese led off with a triple and was driven home on an RBI ground out. The sixth saw the Colonels execute a double steal during the frame before Justin Holt drove in a run on a sac fly.

In the ninth, New Orleans had a shot to break up the shutout against Marc Frazier. After two consecutive walks with one out, Ryan Calloway singled for his fourth hit of the day to load the bases with two out. However, Frazier came back to record a strikeout to polish off the shutout and the sweep for the Colonels who have won six straight conference games and eight straight overall.

Calloway had his second four-hit game of the year, going 4-for-5. Carriere wound up with two hits on the day. Priddle pitched into the sixth after a shaky start, logging 5.2 innings. Between Darron McKigney and Keaton Brewer, the Privateers bullpen went 2.1 innings and allowed just one hit.

Sinibaldi picked up his 10th win of the season by throwing seven shutout innings and striking out four. Smith, Reese, Darius Knight, and Christian Correa had two hits each. The Colonels finished the day with six stolen bases. The top five hitters in the Colonels lineup each scored a run.

New Orleans will play the final mid-week game of the season at home against LSU on Tuesday, May 12. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
