CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Reigning Southland Conference and College Sports Madness Southland Conference Player of the Week
Randi Brown was outstanding in the Tuesday morning bout at No. 24 University of Miami (3-1) but the University of New Orleans (1-3) fell to the Hurricanes 76-46 at Watsco Center. Brown went 9-of-18 from the field and 5-of-12 from three-point range en route to 26 points.
Senior
Kayla Mundy joined Brown in double-figures with 10 points before fouling out of the game.
Shania Woods collected seven points and led UNO with nine rebounds.
FIRST QUARTER
Miami, who was ranked No. 24 in the USA Today Coaches Poll entering the tilt, led at the end of the first quarter 19-8. Brown (five) and
Shania Woods (three) were the only Privateers to score.
SECOND QUARTER
The Privateers held the Hurricanes without a basket for the last 5:35 of the period. At the break, Miami led 33-17. The U picked up 10 steals in the opening half and went 10-of-14 from the free throw line.
THIRD QUARTER
The third quarter belonged to Brown as the Southland Conference's leading scorer drained 16 points in the period, cutting the deficit to 11. However, Erykah Davenport put the Hurricanes on her back and closed the third period with a double-double. Davenport finished the game with 16 points and a game-high 19 rebounds.
FOURTH QUARTER
Miami continued to drain its free throws and defeated New Orleans, 76-46.
BY THE NUMBERS
Miami shot 24 more free throws than New Orleans and finished 23-of-37 from the charity stripe. The Privateers went 7-of-17 from three-point range.

The Privateers return to action Friday, November 24, against South Alabama in Mobile. Tipoff is set for 7:05.
