NEW ORLEANS – Rhyan Rand lead all hitters 10 kills with no attack errors, but the University of New Orleans (12-19, 6-10 Southland) season ended with a 25-17, 25-17, 25-18 loss to top-seeded Stephen F. Austin.
Rand added four blocks to go along with her kills.
Ehize Omoghibo and
Brianna Vega had six kills apiece.
Kaitlyn Grice in her final game tallied five kills and three blocks.
Andrea Nava tallied 19 digs in the loss.
SET ONE
The LadyJacks jumped out to an early 7-3 lead early in the opening stanza, but the Privateers fought back to make it a two-point game at 11-9 highlighted by an ace by Nava and a kill by Rand. Unfortunately, UNO could not pull any closer as SFA took set on 25-17.
SET TWO
Stephen F. Austin dominated set two early blocking the first three Privateer attacks forcing a timeout. But out the timeout, the teams would trade points with SFA holding a 13-12 lead. But just like in set one SFA took set two 25-17.
SET THREE
SFA completed the three-set sweep with a 25-18 set three win.
New Orleans finishes 2018 with a 12-19 overall record and a 6-10 record in conference.
