NEW ORLEANS – Collin Morrill and
Beau Bratton combined to go 5-8 in the University of New Orleans' (17-18, 7-9 Southland) 3-2 setback against McNeese State (13-20, 10-6 Southland) Friday evening at Maestri Field.
Cowboy reliever Zach Rider (1-1) was credited with the win. Privateer lefty
Bryan Warzek (2-2) was saddled with the loss after going 7.0 innings of work giving up three run on five hits. Aiden Anderson earned his third save of the season.
C. Morrill finished 3-4 at the plate with a run scored and Bratton went 2-4 with a ribbie.
Devin Morrill added a pair of hits of his own.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Privateers opened up the scoring in the first after C. Morrill reached on out single and later scored on Bratton double for a 1-0 advantage.
McNeese tied things up in the fourth with a run on a RBI ground out, but UNO went back on top in the sixth on a RBI fielder's choice by Magee.
The Cowboys took a lead in the seventh with a pair of runs, one on a steal of home to solidify the 3-2 victory.
UNO threated to take the lead in the second, fifth, sixth, and eighth innings but could not push a run across.
SCHEDULE CHANGE
The Privateers continue their series with McNeese with doubleheader on Sunday morning at 11 a.m.
Brayson Smith will get the ball in game one and
John Michael Stephens will get the call in the later game.
