CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Privateers collected 6.0 team blocks in Saturday's 3-0 loss to Texas A&M – Corpus Christi (3-12, 2-0 Southland) at Dugan Wellness Center.
Blessing Dunn finished with 10 kills and 10 digs in the University of New Orleans' (7-9, 1-1 Southland) 25-21, 25-18, 27-25 loss.
Brianna Vega tallied seven kills,
Kaitlyn Grice added five kills and three blocks, and
Ehize Omoghibo finished with five kills and two blocks.
SET ONE
AMCC jumped to a 9-5 lead and looked to set the tone early. But the Privateers closed the gap in the middle of the set to make it 16-15, but that is as close as they could get as the Islanders took set one 25-20.
SET TWO
UNO posted the first two points of the set, but the 'Ders came roaring back to take the lead 7-6 and dominated the rest of the set not letting the Privateers any closer than 12-11 and won set two 25-18.
SET THREE
The Islanders were dominate early getting out to 17-11 lead, but the Privateer used a 10-1 run to take the lead 21-19. From there the teams traded leads twice but TAMUCC capitalized on a pair of attack errors to take the set 27-25 and the match 3-0.
NEXT UP
The Privateers are back in the Human Performance Center for a trio of Southland Conference matches. Starting with Nicholls on Tuesday and Northwestern on Thursday at 6 p.m. and the week wraps up with a showdown with Southeastern Louisiana on Saturday at 1 p.m.
