Men’s Hoops Sets Lakefront Arena Record in Season Opening Victory

NEW ORLEANS – The Privateers began the 2019-20 campaign in historic fashion, shattering the Lakefront Arena record for points scored in a game (by New Orleans) en route to the 114-58 victory over Spring Hill Tuesday evening. New Orleans moved to 1-0 on the year while the Badgers were not credited with a loss (exhibition).

Bryson Robinson led all student-athletes with 22 points on 8-of-14 shooting and the senior added five rebounds and four assists. Five other Privateers reached double figures – Damion Rosser (14 points, four rebounds, four assists), Amari Haynes (14 points, five rebounds, four steals), Gerrale Gates (13 points, seven rebounds), Jahmel Myers (13 points) and Ahren Freeman (13 points on 6-of-10 shooting).

Lamont Berzat registered a career-high 11 assists. Berzat added three of New Orleans' 11 steals. The unit shot 63.1 percent from the floor and 82.4 percent from the charity stripe. New Orleans dominated in the paint, outscoring SHC 66-to-34.
