NEW ORLEANS – Ahren Freeman came off the bench with 14 points on 6-of-6 shooting and
Troy Green posted 19 points, five rebounds, four assists and four steals in New Orleans' (4-6, 0-1 Southland) 77-71 setback at Abilene Christian (6-5, 1-0 Southland) Wednesday evening at Lakefront Arena.
Green's 19 fell one shy of his career-high.
Jaylen Key posted 16 points and five boards.
COACH'S THOUGHTS
FIRST HALF
The Privateers trailed by as much as nine with 4:01 remaining but went into the break with a one-possession deficit, 31-29. Green led all scorers with 11 points.
Gerrale Gates and Green swiped two passes apiece and New Orleans went 10-of-11 from the free throw line.
SECOND HALF
Freeman scored all 14 of his points in the second half and Key posted nine points and four boards in the near comeback. New Orleans went 14-of-15 from the charity stripe in the second stanza.
INSIDE THE BOX
The Privateers went 24-of-26 from the free throw line, surpassing the 90 percent marker once again... New Orleans posted 26 fast break points to ACU's seven.
