SHANIA WOODS HAS ANOTHER DOUBLE-DOUBLE PERFORMANCE, PRIVATEERS FALL 86-62 TO SAM HOUSTON STATE

Huntsville, Texas- Shania Woods scored 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for her 12th double-double of the season.   However, Sam Houston State (15-11, 10-6 SLC) had four players in double figures and the Privateers lost to the Bearkats, 86-62, Wednesday night in Huntsville, Texas.
 
Woods was joined in double figures by sophomore guard Dionjhae Thomas who had 10 points in only 13 minutes of action.  It was the second time Thomas reached double figures in the last three contests.
 
New Orleans (11-14, 7-9 SLC) never led in the game as the Bearkats jumped out to an 11-0 lead.  Thomas scored the first points for the Privateers at the 6:34 mark of the first period with a 3-pointer making it 11-3.   Sam Houston State won the first period 25-13 and they led at the half by 18, 47-29.
 
The home team grabbed their largest lead of the game late in the third quarter, a 33-point advantage at 72-39.
 
New Orleans won the final quarter 20-14.  Freshman Traya Bruce scored 9 points---all coming from beyond the 3-point arch.  And UNO got a total of 32 points from its bench.   Joining Dionjhae Thomas with points-off-the-bench were freshman Jana Thomas-Reid with 8 points in 13 minutes and Kyla Malone equaled her season and career-high with 8 points in only 12 minutes.
 
Sam Houston State was led in scoring by Jenniffer Oramas with a game-high 22 points followed by Jaylonn Walker (19), Lydia Baster (16) and Amber Leggett (13).
 
New Orleans outrebounded Sam Houston State, 34-31.
 
Up next for the Privateers, at trip to Thibodaux, Louisiana to face the Nicholls Colonels, Saturday, Mar. 2 at 1 p. m.  New Orleans will close the regular season at home against Southeastern Louisiana, Wednesday, Mar. 6, for Senior Day.  Tipoff is set for 7 p. m.
