NEW ORLEANS –
Trang Dao provided a thrilling ending to a 2-0 day for the New Orleans Privateers women's tennis team (4-0). The senior won in straight sets over Mariia Borodii to lock a 4-3 win over the Xavier Gold Nuggets. Earlier in the day, the Privateers swept Loyola 7-0.

The Privateers breezed through their opening match of the day, controlling every position in doubles and singles. Dao and
Mar Gendra got the proceedings kicked off with a 6-1 victory at flight one.
Lea Alguacil and
Ank Vullings followed with a 6-0 win of their own to seal the doubles point.
Brittany Johnson and
Salma Abdelrahim provided a 6-2 victory to sweep the board.
Collectively, New Orleans dropped just one set in singles. Dao and
Claudette Gilhespie were the first two off the court. The Privateers' flight one and three players dropped a combined four games in straight set victories.
The match clinching point came from Vullings who defeated Chandler Harmon 6-1, 6-2. Abdelrahim, Alguacil, and Gendra all notched singles victories to finish the first sweep of the season for New Orleans.
NEW ORLEANS-4 XAVIER (LA)-3
There was much contrast in the Privateers' second match of the day against the third ranked team in NAIA Division I.
Xavier got on the board with the doubles point, earning 6-3 wins at flight one and three. The Privateers got a doubles decision at flight two from Abdelrahim and Johnson who staved off Lacee Ancar and Charlene Goreau 7-5.
The battle got more intense in singles but the Privateers' depth prevailed. Abdelrahim, Gendra, and Johnson provided a clean sweep from flights four through six. All three won their matches in straight sets.
It was left to Dao who was the last match to finish. She won both sets by a break to preserve the Privateers' perfect spring record.

"We were really flat in doubles against Xavier. But give credit to T.K. She's playing really good tennis. And our four, five, and six players played a very good match. This is a tough Xavier team and I'm happy to get this win under our belt."
NEXT UP
The Privateers will host two opponents on Sunday when they take on Prairie View A&M at 10 a.m. and Louisiana Tech at 3 p.m.
