KATY, Texas – Senior and All-Southland student-athlete
Shania Woods finished with 15 points and 13 rebounds in her final game as a Privateer as the No. 7 University of New Orleans (12-16) fell to No. 6 Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi (15-15) 60-47 Thursday afternoon at the Merrell Center in round one of the 2019 Southland Conference Tournament.

th of the season).
Whitley Larry followed with nine points, 10 rebounds and two blocks, and
Jada Duncantell added seven boards and four assists.

Keeshawn Davenport. "I have a young daughter and if she's anything like Shania, I will be a proud mother."
FIRST QUARTER
The Islanders took an 8-2 lead into the first media timeout of the game, but the UNO defense held its own early, limiting TAMUCC to 28.6 percent shooting.
However, the Privateer offense struggled early, and a 16-0 Corpus Christi run put the No. 6 'Ders ahead 19-2 with 1:06 remaining in the quarter.
Shania Woods' layup with 53 seconds remaining in the quarter ended the run for the Islanders and
Alyssa Quixley followed with a quick triple, but A&M-Corpus Christi ended the frame with a trey of its own to take a 22-7 lead into the second.
SECOND QUARTER
Woods continued to be a menace on the glass and picked up her 11
th rebound of the game with 4:35 to go in the first half and followed with a layup. Moments later,
Jada Duncantell found Woods inside for two and the Islanders called a timeout looking to regroup. UNO cut its deficit to 14 before the break in action.
Out of the timeout, TAMUCC scored six unanswered to increase its lead back to 20 before a pair of free throws with 1:21 to go for Woods, who posted her fourth consecutive double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
At the half, UNO trailed 38-17. Alexes Bryant and
Shania Woods led all scorers with 10 apiece and Woods pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds in the first.
Points in the paint were heavily in favor of TAMUCC (19-2), while the 'Ders forced 16 UNO turnovers to their three.
THIRD QUARTER
The Privateers outscored the Islanders in the quarter (18-17), but A&M-Corpus Christi took a 56-35 edge into the final stanza. In the third, UNO outrebounded TAMUCC 13-7.
FOURTH QUARTER
A close fourth quarter (13-12 TAMUCC) clinched the win for the Islanders.
