JACKSON, Miss.– The University of New of Orleans (8-3) scored in all but one inning, as it defeated Jackson State University (5-9) by the score of 21-2 Wednesday night at Braddy Field
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Privateers wasted no time getting on the board in the opening stanza as the first four batter reached via the free pass. Morrill (walk) got the Privateers on the board first scoring on a wild pitch. Two batters later
Pearce Howard added two more to the lead on a two RBI single for a 3-0 UNO lead.
Antonio Gauthier Jr. plated one more run with an RBI single to push the New Orleans lead to 4-0.
The Privateers would go on to score three runs in the second, one in the third, seven in the fourth, five in the sixth and one in the seventh.
Jackson State's only runs came in the third inning off the bat of Jaylyn Williams who blasted a two-run homer.
WIN-LOSS RECORD
Bailey Holstein was credited with his first win as a Privateer going two scoreless innings. Tiger starter Joshua Swartz was tagged with the loss after going two thirds of an inning allowing four runs on two hits and he walked five batters.
INSIDE THE BOX
Gaige Howard lead the Privateer offense going 3-for-6 a triple and five RBI.
Antonio Gauthier Jr. (2-3) added a triple and four RBI of his own.
Collin Morrill went 2-for-2 with a RBI and three walks. Seven others added a hit in the victory as well.
NEXT UP
The Privateers travel to Nicholls Friday to open up Southland Conference play. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
