McNeese Takes Series Over Baseball

LAKE CHARLES, La. – The University of New Orleans (17-19, 5-13 Southland) scored three runs in the leadoff inning but McNeese State University (19-17, 6-9 Southland) scored in bunches to defeat the Privateers 16-4 at Joe Miller Ballpark Saturday.

Pearce Howard and Antonio Gauthier Jr. went yard for the sixth and fifth time, respectively. Howard finished 2-for-3 with three RBI.

Collin Morrill and Wade Raburn singled to begin the game and Howard followed, drilling a 2-2 pitch to right for his team leading sixth long ball of the season to put UNO ahead 3-0.

The Cowboys got on the board with a run in the first and the Privateers got it back in the second on a leadoff solo shot by Gauthier Jr.

McNeese put a five-spot on the board in the third to take the lead and extended its lead to take the series 2-1 with a 16-4 victory over New Orleans.

WIN-LOSS RECORD
Will Dion picked up the win after 4.0 shutout innings, improving to 3-0. Steven Swift (1-2) was charged with the loss after allowing five runs in 2.0 innings.
