CHARLESTON, S.C. – The New Orleans Privateers (6-7) conceded a .367 attack percentage in a 3-0 loss (25-16, 25-21, 25-19) to the Charleston Southern Bucs (8-6) on Saturday morning at the TD Arena.
STATISTICAL LEADERS
Ehize Omoghibo had another solid stat line with 12 kills in 25 attempts for a .360 clip.
Brianna Vega had eight kills.
Lucie Pokorna contributed seven kills, 29 assists, and six digs.
Trinity Jackson had six kills in 11 attempts.
Andrea Nava led the team in digs with 11.
FIRST SET
The set began evenly until Charleston Southern scored a 6-2 spurt that grew their lead to 13-8. The Bucs continued to build upon their lead on the strength of a .485 attack percentage for the set. Omoghibo had five of her kills in the opening set for New Orleans.
SECOND SET
Charleston Southern engineered an 8-3 run to start the second set and grew their lead to eight at one point. New Orleans then put together a grandstand rally behind three kills from Pokorna and two from Vega. However, the Bucs were able to hold off New Orleans' late comeback attempt in the set for a 25-21 win to push their lead to 2-0.
THIRD SET
Jackson had three early kills in the set that helped the Privateers to an early 8-7 advantage. The set was tied 11 times until the score was 13-13. That's when Charleston Southern hit a run of six consecutive points. That run decided the match in the Bucs' favor. Brooke Monssen and Paige Reagor combined for 30 kills for Charleston Southern.
