Troy Green Joins 1,000 Point Club in Jacksonville

Privateers Comeback Against Camels Falls Just Short, 79-70.

NEW ORLEANS –
In the 100th game of his career in Blue and Silver, Troy Green became the 24th member of the 1,000 Point Club as the Privateers (1-4) fell to the Campbell Fighting Camels (3-0) by a score of 79-70 on Wednesday afternoon in their second game at the BSN Sports Dolphin Classic in Jacksonville.

With 11:58 left in the first half, Damion Rosser found Green, whose jump shot put him over 1,000 points in his career. The St. Rose native finished the afternoon with 1,026 points in his career.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After trailing early 11-6, a pair of Green free throws, and a layup by Lamont Berzat led to Derek St. Hilaire connecting on the first three-pointer of the weekend to give UNO a 13-11 lead at the 13:18 mark in the first half.
  • The Privateers largest lead of the first half came with 9:22 to play after Green's layup put New Orleans ahead 19-16.
  • Campbell went on a 17-4 on 7-of-9 shooting over the next 4:33 with seven points coming from Ricky Clemons aided by five Privateer turnovers, giving the Camels a 12-point lead they would not relinquish.
  • Campbell shot 60% in the first half to UNO's 39.1% on their way to a 41-26 halftime lead. They would remain on fire in the second half, connecting on nine of their first 20 field goals, extending their lead to 20 (57-37) points at the 12:22 mark of the second half.
  • Trapping pressure sparked a 17-6 run by UNO sparked cut the Camels 23-point lead to 12 with just over four minutes to play in the game. During the run New Orleans went 7-10 from the field and forced three Camel turnovers - Rodney Carson had six points, Ladarius Marshall had five.
  • A trio of made baskets – two from Green and one from Rosser - cut the Camels lead to seven, 77-70, with 46 seconds left in the game but the comeback would fall just short.
  • Green led the Privateers with 34 points, while Jordan Whitfield had 26 points for Campbell.
STATS
  • Green finished with a career-high 34 points – the seventh 20-point game of his career.
  • Derek St. Hilaire's three-point basket in the first half broke a streak of 15 straight misses from beyond the arc for UNO to start the BSN Sports Dolphin Classic.
  • Ladarius Marshall finished with 8 points on 3-3 shooting and 6 rebounds in 21 minutes off the bench after missing the Florida National game.
  • St. Hilaire played a career high 30 minutes scoring career-high ten points.
NOTES
  • Green's 34 points were the most scored by a Privateer on since Christavious Gil scored 38 against Northwestern State in the 2016, and the most scored on a neutral site since Bo McCalebb scored 36 points against Arkansas State in the 2007 Sun Belt Tournament. His 12 made field goals were also career-high.
  • Green started his 55th consecutive game and played in the 100th game of his four-year career on the Lakefront.
  • Entering the contest scoring 16.3 points a game first half foul trouble helped contribute to a scoreless first half for Rosser. Rosser got his first two points on a two-handed dunk with 14:52 in the second half. Rosser's streak of four straight games in double figures came to an end after he finished with eight points.
  • The Privateers fall to 0-2 all-time against Campbell.
