NATCHITOCHES, La. –
Ank Vullings continued her winning streak in singles but the New Orleans Privateers women's tennis team (6-3, 1-3) was defeated 6-1 by the Northwestern State Lady Demons on Sunday afternoon.
DOUBLES
The doubles point came right down to the wire but Northwestern State prevailed. The Lady Demons scored a 6-3 win at flight one.
Claudette Gilhespie and
Lea Alguacil were able to even the score though with a 6-4 win at flight three.
It came down to the match on flight two and Northwestern State was able to snag a service break late on for a 7-5 win. The Lady Demons carried that over into singles for the victory.
SINGLES
All of the Lady Demons' wins came in straight sets. It started with a 6-0, 6-0 win at flight two. The first three matches that were clinched were all in Northwestern State's favor and only 10 games were lost in those six sets.
Flights four and five also provided straight set victories for Northwestern State.
The day closed with Vullings going to 9-0 on the season in singles. The sophomore won the first set 7-5 and came back from losing the second set to win a tiebreak 10-7 in the third to secure the victory at flight one and give the Privateers their lone point of the day.
NEXT UP
The Privateers will return home on Wednesday, Mar. 11 when the host Richmond. The match gets started at 2 p.m.
