HAMMOND, La. – The New Orleans Privateers (4-12, 3-5) got 22 points from
Damion Rosser but fell short by a 79-73 score to the Southeastern Lions (6-11, 4-4) on Saturday afternoon at the University Center.
STATISTICAL LEADERS
Rosser played 36 minutes before fouling out late in the contest. He went 6-for-8 from the field and 9-for-12 from the free throw line. Rosser added seven rebounds, four assists, and two steals to his line.
Derek St. Hilaire reached season bests in rebounds (eight) and assists (six) to go along with 18 points.
Rodney Carson Jr. tied his career high in rebounds as he secured eight.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Lions used a key 10-0 run over a stretch of nearly three minutes to gain a 63-53 lead midway through the second half.
-The Privateers had 21 fast break points on the game while Southeastern had a 44-26 advantage on points in the paint.
-Rosser scored nine of the Privateers' first 15 points and was a perfect 4-for-4 from the floor.
-New Orleans did a great job of sharing the ball early with seven assists on their first 10 made field goals.
-The Privateers held Southeastern scoreless from the 8:02 mark until two made free throws with 4:43. In that span, New Orleans went on a 7-0 spurt to take a 24-20 lead.
-The Lions' field goal drought lasted even further. 5:29 of game time elapsed until the drought was broken by a Keon Clergeot layup.
-At the half, the Privateers carried a slim 36-34 lead. They held the Lions to just 37.9 percent from the field and one made triple in nine attempts.
NOTES
-St. Hilaire achieved a new season high in assists. His previous high was four which he did on four different occasions.
-Rosser reached double figures in points for the 14
th time this season.
-The 21 made free throws by the Privateers were the second highest mark in a Southland game this season (22 at Stephen F. Austin) and the third highest overall.
-As a unit, the Privateers were a perfect 12-for-12 from the charity stripe in the second half.
