NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers (3-2) had big pitching performances from the bullpen and timely hitting to rally back for a 7-6 victory over the ULM Warhawks (1-1) on Friday night at Maestri Field.
Issac Williams delivered what turned out to be the game winning hit in a seven-run fifth inning that helped vault the Privateers to their 1,498
th win in program history.
PEN PALS
Caleb Seroski (1-1) settled in and retired the bottom of the order in succession to get out of the top of the fifth. The trio of
Jacob Lamkin,
Haden Erbe, and
Collin Kulivan took over from there and all three combined for a strong performance.
Lamkin threw two scoreless innings while Erbe pitched a scoreless eighth. Kulivan came in for the ninth and nailed down the save as he retired the side in 13 pitches (10 strikes).

The Privateers were down 6-0 heading into the bottom of the fifth.

Salo Iza's single two batters later drove in the first run of the game.
Three straight walks issued by ULM pitching kept the pressure building on the Warhawks. A fielder's choice error and a passed ball got the Privateers within a run at 6-5.
Then Williams came up and lined a single to left that plated two runs to give New Orleans a lead they held onto for the series opener.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Gaige Howard reached base three times (two hits, one walk). The Privateers collected seven hits on the night and seven different men scored a run. The bullpen combined for five scoreless innings, two hits allowed and five strikeouts.
