Privateer Pitchers Strike Out 14 in Defeat to LSU

NEW ORLEANS – New Orleans pitchers combined to strike out 14 LSU hitters but fell on the short side of a 5-0 decision on Wednesday at Maestri Field. The Tigers moved to 11-3 on the season while the Privateers went to 5-7.

ALL THE K'S
Kyle Khachadourian was the opener as he went an inning in his start. He struck out Tre' Morgan to get the whiff machine going. Caleb Seroski had a game high five strikeouts and Cortlynn Ramirez had three strikeouts.

The Privateers posted the most strikeouts against LSU hitters in a game this season, eclipsing the 12 that Air Force pitching recorded in the Tigers' second game of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Tigers got on the board in the third inning. After Alex Milazzo reached on an error to lead off the frame, Morgan singled two batters later to drive him in. Two batters later, Cade Beloso drove in a run on a sac fly.

LSU added two more runs in the fifth inning on two extra base hits from the same duo. Morgan hit an RBI triple and Beloso struck a double to extend the Tigers lead to 4-0. The final run came across on a wild pitch in the seventh.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Kasten Furr and Darren Willis each had two hits. Issac Williams had a double, a walk and this highlight reel catch. Luther Woullard singled in his first at-bat in the first inning. Hudson LaBorde had a pinch hit single in the ninth.

LSU starter, Will Hellmers (3-1) went five innings and struck out seven. Devin Fontenot, Alex Brady, Ty Floyd and Garrett Edwards each threw a scoreless inning.

NEXT UP
The Privateers will start their 40-game conference slate against HBU on Friday. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
