Women's Tennis Remains Unbeaten in SLC After Win Against UIW

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The New Orleans Privateers women's tennis team continued their hot start in Southland play as they defeated the shorthanded UIW Cardinals 6-1 on Sunday afternoon at the Mabry Tennis Courts.

The Privateers have moved to 4-0 against the Southland and are one of three remaining undefeated teams in the league.

DOUBLES POINT
The Privateers already had a win in the pocket by default because UIW could not field a full lineup of six. With a win already at flight three, the Privateers controlled the other two matches. Lina Hohnhold and Tristanne Dechoux won 6-2 at flight one while Ank Vullings and Lea Alguacil coasted to a 6-1 win at flight two.

SINGLES RESULTS
The Privateers won in straight sets in four of the five matches that took place in singles. With a default win at flight six that put New Orleans ahead 2-0, the Privateers continued to control the flow of the match throughout.

Ank Vullings was the first off court after she defeated Alejandra Landaluce in straight sets. Vullings only dropped three games on her way to her 20th straight singles win.

Hohnhold finished the deal for the Privateers with another stellar performance at flight two. The senior transfer only lost two games in a 6-1, 6-1 win against Sara Djurdjevic.

Salma Abdelrahim won her match at flight five with a strong performance of her own. Abdelrahim only lost two games on the way to victory.

Claudette Gilhespie went to 2-0 on the weekend in singles with a 6-2, 7-5 win at flight four. The lone Cardinals point came at flight three when Sophia Kermet won a third set tiebreak 10-7.
