Volleyball Ends Season on Winning Note, Defeats Northwestern State

NATCHITOCHES, La. – After a grueling home finale, the New Orleans Privateers bounced right back and rallied several times during a 3-0 (25-22, 25-17, 25-22) victory on Thursday night against the Northwestern State Lady Demons in the regular season finale.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Trinity Jackson led all Privateers with 10 kills and hit .381. Jackson also led the team in aces with three and registered 10 digs.

Sh'Diamond Holly added eight kills and was in on six total blocks. Chloe Hampton, Kai Williams and Alexis Parrish each added five kills.

Hannah Volpi had 29 assists and 12 digs. Sheilah Purcell led the way in digs with 19. The Privateers limited Northwestern State to an attack percentage of .024.

FROM THE OUTSET
The first set was tight early on as neither team could separate in the early going. The Lady Demons used a 9-2 run to move ahead 22-15. However, New Orleans came back with a flourish as they scored the next 10 points.

Jackson had five kills in seven attempts during the first set and the block was critical (4-0 advantage) in the completion of the comeback. Northwestern State also had six attack errors in that stretch.

CONTINUING ON
New Orleans hit .314 in their most efficient offensive set of the night. Tied at 7-7, Volpi recorded a kill that sparked a run of six straight points. The Privateers never looked back from there. Holly had two blocks down the stretch including one on set point.

FINISHING TOUCHES
New Orleans got out to a 7-3 lead but another wild swing of momentum saw Northwestern State in front at 16-10.

The Privateers settled in from there behind two Williams kills and back-to-back service aces from Jackson which leveled the score at 17-17. Another ace, this one from Williams, put a victorious bow on the season for New Orleans.
