NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers (6-4) put forth a dominant performance in their home curtain call with a 7-0 win against the Loyola Wolfpack (2-9) on Monday afternoon at the University Tennis Center.
Before the match started, six student-athletes received their academic awards for the spring and fall 2020 semesters. The awards are sponsored by Northwestern Mutual.
START TO FINISH
The Privateers only dropped two games between all three doubles flights.
Austin Vos and
Espen Lagarde motored to a 6-1 win while
Max Heinzel and
Johannes Klein swept their opponents 6-0. At flight three,
Marcel Volz and
Luke Joujan were up 5-1 when the point was decided.
SINGLES
Everyone won in straight sets in singles and nobody lost more than five games in their respective matches.
Klein remained undefeated on the season with a 6-0, 6-1 win at flight five and was the first off the court.
Joujan followed after he swept through his first set and held off a rally in the middle of the second set from Ernesto Telles. Joujan won 6-0, 6-3.
Heinzel and Volz both scored their eighth singles wins of the season, and they co-lead the team in that department. Heinzel breezed to a 6-1, 6-0 victory while Volz scored a 6-3, 6-2 decision.
Lagarde also won without dropping a game in a set as he coasted to a 6-1, 6-0 victory.
Vos also notched a straight set victory. He came back from down a break early in the second set and won 6-2, 6-3.

"We played a much improved Loyola team. I think this is just what we needed heading into Nicholls on Thursday. I thought they played with confidence and didn't let their opponent in the door. I'm very proud of them and these guys are playing well. We have to take this one step at a time and get ready for Thursday."
NEXT UP
The Privateers, who currently sit third in the Southland, will face Nicholls on Thursday to close out conference play.
