NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers women's tennis team moved their winning streak to five matches after a 4-0 win against the Southern Jaguars on Monday afternoon at the University Tennis Center.
CLEAN SWEEP STARTS DOUBLES
Salma Abdelrahim and
Estelle Vanthier were moved up to flight two doubles and the duo responded with a dominating performance. They did not relent a game in winning 6-0 to get the first match on the board.
Southern came back at flight three with a win of their own at 6-3, but the flight one duo wrapped up the first point for the Privateers.
Ank Vullings and
Lea Alguacil were unwavering in a 6-1 win. The victory moved their doubles record to 7-1 on the season. It was their first match at flight one doubles.
SINGLES
The Privateers made quick work of it in singles to clinch the match in under two hours. Vullings obtained an early break in each set and went on to a 6-1, 6-1 win.
Alguacil swept through her second set to notch a 6-2, 6-0 victory at flight six. She is now 8-2 on the season.
The clinching point was scored by
Tristanne Dechoux. She came back from down 40-15 to earn a double break in the second set on her way to a 6-2, 6-1 victory.

"We went out there and got the job done. It was a good match for us and in some ways it was good just to get the players into the mindset for this weekend. We have to physically and emotionally ready for this weekend."
