CHARLESTON, S.C. – The New Orleans Privateers men's tennis team came out firing on all cylinders on their way to a 7-0 victory against The Citadel Bulldogs on Wednesday afternoon at the Earle Tennis Center.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Privateers came out strong from the start of the day as it all began in doubles.
Akos Kotorman and
Max Heinzel swept through their opponents at flight one doubles. It was the second time this season Kotorman and Heinzel paired for a win without dropping a game.
Espen Lagarde and
Marcel Volz capped off the doubles point in the Privateers' favor with a win by a double break at flight two.
Dhruv Tangri and
Matthew Armbruster finished the doubles sweep with a 6-3 victory.
In singles, the Privateers continued to keep the pressure on the Bulldogs.
David Tesic coasted to a 6-2, 6-2 victory at flight three. Heinzel persevered in a tiebreak in the first set before running away to an easy second set in a 7-6 (5), 6-2 decision.
The match point was secured by Volz who rebounded from losing the second set to sweep through his opponent in the third and deciding set. Volz secured a 6-2, 2-6, 6-0 win to move his singles record to 8-1 on the year.
Tangri took two long sets in a flight five victory while Lagarde dominated the third set in his win.
Mihajlo Drobnjakovic won by default at flight six.

"They were a scrappy team but we played well and executed our game plan. I was extremely proud of the guys today. They were methodical and they showed a lot of class and poise. We changed some things around in doubles and everybody played great today."
NEXT UP
The Privateers will face South Carolina State in a match that has been moved to Thursday. The match will take place at 2 p.m.
