Match Recap: Men's Tennis | | Emmanuel Pepis

Men's and Women's Tennis Both Defeat South Carolina State

ORANGEBURG, S.C. – The New Orleans Privateers men's and women's tennis teams continued their winning ways as they both defeated the South Carolina State Bulldogs on Thursday afternoon during their Palmetto State road swing.
 
MEN'S RECAP
The Privateers were in for a battle in the doubles point as the two squads split the top two flights. It came down to the all-freshman tandem of Dhruv Tangri and Matthew Armbruster who posted a 6-4 win to give New Orleans the opening point of the day.
 
In singles, New Orleans continued to seize the momentum as Espen Lagarde scored a straight set victory to push the Privateer lead to 2-0. David Tesic followed closely behind as he secured a single break in each set of a 6-4, 6-4 win.
 
Max Heinzel and Marcel Volz both were stretched to three sets but both wound up victorious. Heinzel earned a single break in the third set while Volz won a pair of tiebreaks in the first and third set of his match at flight one.
 
Armbruster finished the scoring for New Orleans with a 10-3 win in the third set to take his match at flight six.
 
WOMEN'S RECAP
The Privateers moved their winning streak to six consecutive matches with a 5-2 victory over the Bulldogs on Thursday.
 
New Orleans swept the doubles point with a tiebreak win at flight one with Salma Abdelrahim and Marthe Degeorges. The Privateers' flight two and three squads won their matches by 6-4 score lines to secure the first point.
 
In singles, four Privateers won straight set matches. Ank Vullings slotted up to flight one and won easily by a 6-2, 6-2 score. Abdelrahim only conceded three games in flight five while Lea Alguacil won her 2022 singles debut at flight six by a 6-2, 6-3 score.
 
Estelle Vanthier outlasted her opponent in the first set and dominated in the second of a 7-5, 6-1 win.
