RUSTON, La. – The New Orleans Privateers women's tennis team was defeated against a tough opponent in the Louisiana Tech Lady Techsters by a score of 6-1 on Wednesday afternoon at the LA Tech Tennis Complex.
HOW IT HAPPENED
For just the second time this season, the Privateers lost the doubles point.
Salma Abdelrahim and
Lina Hohnhold scored a win at flight one but the Lady Techsters controlled the action at the remaining two courts.
Wins by scores of 6-1 at flight two and 6-4 at flight three secured the doubles point for the home team to start the afternoon.
In singles, five matches were decided in straight sets. Leonie Schuknecht scored a win by a single break in the first set on the way to a 6-4, 6-1 decision. Wins at flight three and four by Louisiana Tech sealed the win for the home team.
Hohnhold scored the only point for the Privateers when she outlasted Olga Bienzobas in the first set and dominated the second during a 7-5, 6-2 win.
The only match to go three sets was at flight six where Alexia Romero won 6-3, 3-6, 6-1.
NEXT UP
The Privateers will face Northwestern State on Saturday at the University Tennis Center.
