SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The New Orleans Privateers women's tennis team started the day with a 5-2 win against the UIW Cardinals on Sunday at the Mabry Tennis Center.
Later in the day, the Privateers men's team was defeated 5-2 by the Cardinals.
WOMEN'S RECAP
The women's team bounced back from a tough loss on Friday to defeat the Cardinals 5-2 in the first match of the day. New Orleans moved to 9-8 overall and 2-2 in conference play.

MEN'S RECAP
The Privateers had a shot to clinch the Southland regular season title but they were denied by a hot Cardinals squad that has now won five straight matches.
UIW got off to a strong start in doubles as they had 6-3 wins at both flight two and three. The match at flight one was on serve, tied at 4-4 when the first point was decided.
In singles,
Marcel Volz and
Luke Joujan each won singles matches to put up the points for the Privateers. Volz outlasted Marwin Kraleman in a first set tiebreak as he went on to win 7-6 (4), 6-3.
Joujan played a marathon first two sets against Arnau Miralles. Joujan rallied from a set down and won the 10-point tiebreak in the third set to take the match 5-7, 7-6 (3), 10-4.
However, the Cardinals took the remaining matches. Tomas Reche won 6-3, 6-3 and Joao Sasso won 6-1, 6-2 at flights two and three respectively.
Pietro Perego controlled the third set on his way to a 6-3, 2-6, 6-1 victory. Warren Fulgenzi Jr. also won in straight sets at flight six.
