Privateers Defeated by Southeastern to Start Three-Match Week

NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers were in a tough battle and wound up on the short end of a 3-0 (25-15, 25-13, 25-12) decision at the hands of the Southland leading Southeastern Lady Lions on Tuesday at the Human Performance Center.

The win by Southeastern marked their 15th consecutive victory of the season.

The Privateers and Lady Lions went back and forth in the early stages. The set was tied at 9-9 but the Lady Lions' offense started to take over. They hit .464 with just one error. Southeastern also had a 14-6 advantage in the kill department.

Southeastern put their stamp on the second set early. The Lady Lions raced out to a 12-4 lead and never relented. The offense went for 20 kills as a team and they hit .500 for the second set. Kailin Newsome had six kills while Jacqueline Arrington had five kills to lead the Lady Lions' offense in the second set.

New Orleans closed an early five-point deficit down to two behind Molly Kehoe's swings and block at the net. Kehoe finished with five kills and two solo blocks. However, Southeastern finished off the match behind an attack that committed just six errors in 84 swings and posted an attack percentage of .476 for the night. WE ARE YOUR KREWE
For 54 seasons, Privateer student-athletes have had the unique experience of wearing New Orleans across their chests.  Like the city itself, our sports teams have been fueled by resiliency, grit, and the unquenchable desire to win.  Our city also houses the nation's biggest celebration each year. And much like a Mardi Gras parade krewe, we are tethered to our community through pride, tradition, a culture of acceptance, and finally our commitment to show that New Orleans is a world-class city to live, learn, play and work. We invite you to become more involved with the only University that truly represents New Orleans all day, every day.  Join #NOLAsTeam, We Are Your Krewe!
