NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers men's tennis team fought off a game Loyola Wolfpack squad for the doubles point and kept a step ahead in singles on their way to a 7-0 victory on Wednesday at the Privateer Tennis Center.

Espen Lagarde and Lilian Dubois were in command early and never relented in a 6-0 win on court three. However, Francisco Arce and Samuel Motazed ensured the first point of the day came down to a deciding match after they won 6-4 on court one.

That was in the hands of Matthew Armbruster and Karim Al-Amin. After going back and forth throughout the match, Armbruster and Al-Amin secured a late service break that propelled them to a 7-5 victory and the Privateers to the doubles point.

When it broke down to singles, Dubois and Luke Joujan helped set the tone. The two men combined to lose just three games in their matches. Dubois won 6-1, 6-0 while Joujan scored a 6-1, 6-1 victory to give New Orleans a 3-0 lead.

The clinching point was secured by Al-Amin who staved off Remus Hebhang-Balan in the second set. Al-Amin served out for a 6-1, 6-4 victory.

Armbruster followed with a 6-1, 6-4 win of his own. Lagarde broke serve to clinch his match 6-2, 6-4. Then it came down to Max Heinzel for the sweep.

After rallying from down 4-1 to take the first set, Heinzel was serving for the match, leading 5-4 in the second set. He came back from down 40-15 in his service game to win it and cap off the fourth consecutive sweep over Loyola.
