HOUSTON, Texas – The New Orleans Privateers put up a battle in several spots but were defeated 4-0 by the Rice Owls on Sunday at the Ralph O'Connor Invitational.
Karim Al-Amin and
Matthew Armbruster continued their solid run in doubles through the spring as they emerged to score a 6-4 victory against Kabeer Kapasi and Edurado Morais.
The Owls got a 6-2 win at flight one from Wes Barnett and Trinity Grear. Then, leading 5-4, the duo of Santiago Navarro and Campbell Salmon served out for a 6-4 victory to earn the first point of the day for the nationally ranked Owls.
In singles, it was the back half of the rotation that got the job done to finish things off for Rice. Navarro won a tiebreak in the first set on his way to a 7-6, 6-1 victory. Salmon only lost three games at flight five in his victory.
The first off court was Kapasi at flight six. He only lost one game in a 6-1, 6-0 victory to start off the run in singles.
The other three courts went unfinished and the Privateers were in every match.

Al-Amin had a narrow 5-4 lead after he lost the opening set 6-4 at flight two.
