Men's Tennis Assertive Early in Win Against UIC

NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers men's tennis team used a strong start in doubles to defeat the UIC Flames 6-1 on Tuesday afternoon at the Privateer Tennis Center.

The Privateers got out to a quick beginning as they asserted themselves in doubles. Max Heinzel and Luke Joujan were up a double break at 5-1 in flight two. After UIC broke to get back to 5-2, the Privateer duo broke serve out of the changeover to win 6-2.

Matthew Armbruster and Karim Al-Amin also got out the gates quick as they led 4-1. The duo at flight three also won by a double break at 6-2. The match at flight one was unfinished with New Orleans leading 4-3.

In singles, it was a complete team effort across the flights. Joujan earned an early break but conceded it right back in the third game. From that point, Joujan only lost one game in a 6-1, 6-1 victory at flight four.

Armbruster and Lilian Dubois were both impressive in their matches at the last two flights. They both engineered straight set victories by a 6-2, 6-4 score line.

Espen Lagarde scored a straight set victory when he won 6-3, 6-4 to give the Privateers another singles point.

Heinzel battled through a long first set that he fell on the short end of at 7-5. After dominating the second set, Heinzel won a third set super tiebreak 12-10.
