Box Score NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers rallied from down 2-0 to win a grueling match by a 4-3 score line against the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders on Thursday afternoon at the Privateer Tennis Center.
It was 3-2 to the Islanders in the match but
Luke Joujan broke serve late on in the third set. He then held out of the changeover to win 7-5 in the third set and give the Privateers the tying point. That set the stage for a true freshman who finished it off.
Lilian Dubois was involved in another long match that was 5-4 to his advantage but on serve. Dubois then won the first three points to give himself three match points. He won on the third time of asking when his opponent returned wide to give New Orleans the victory and keep their unbeaten record in conference play at 3-0.
In doubles it was a hard fought match throughout that involved a tiebreak to finish off the first point.
Luke Joujan and
Max Heinzel won 6-3 but the Islanders scored a victory of their own at flight one.
The first point was decided on court three where it went to a tiebreak that the Islanders won 8-6 to earn the doubles decision.
Espen Lagarde and
Karim Al-Amin also earned singles points. Lagarde persevered in a three-set match as he won by a single break in the third at 6-4. Al-Amin rallied from a mini break down in the third set tiebreak to win his match 2-6, 6-2, 7-6 (3).
