LAKE CHARLES, La. –
Brandon Mitchell threw his second consecutive complete game and the New Orleans Privateers grabbed the second game of the series by a 9-2 score over the McNeese Cowboys on Saturday at Joe Miller Ballpark.
DECISIONS
Mitchell moved his mark to 7-3 on the season after his complete game effort. The loss went to Burrell Jones who gave up two earned runs over five innings on seven hits.
The Privateers never trailed in the game as they posted a run in the first inning to take the lead.
Tristan Moore homered, his 12
th long ball of the season to put the Privateers ahead 1-0 before McNeese came to the plate.
A four-spot in the sixth innings put the Privateers further in front and gave Mitchell all the cushion on the lead plus extra.
Mitchell Sanford parked a three-run homer on the first pitch of the count to push the Privateer lead to 6-1.
McNeese scored a run in the bottom of the frame but that was as close as they got for the remainder of the contest. Mitchell limited the Cowboys to just four hits over the game and struck out six batters in his third complete game of the year.
It was also the seventh win of the season for the senior lefty.
The top three hitters in the McNeese lineup combined to go 0-for-8 on the game. Half of the hits came from Taylor Darden.
Four Privateer starters collected multiple hits on the night.
INSIDE THE BOX
Moore and Sanford combined for five hits and five RBI.
Kasten Furr went 2-for-4 with a triple and a run scored.
Dylan Mach was 2-for-4 with two runs scored.
Myles Austin had a double and an RBI while
Issac Williams had a hit and a stolen base.

The series concludes with a first pitch set for 1 p.m. on Sunday.
