BEAUMONT, Texas – The New Orleans Privateers took the second set in extra rallies after a big early run, but the Lamar Cardinals used their serve to take a 3-1 (25-15, 24-26, 25-15, 25-17) decision on Saturday at McDonald Gymnasium.
Leading 2-1, Lamar got out to a 12-5 advantage early in what became the deciding set. The Privateers rallied to close the gap to three at one point, but five Lamar service aces helped the Cardinals see out the rest of the match for their third conference win.
