Privateers Fall to Southeastern in Return Trip to Hammond

HAMMOND, La. – The New Orleans Privateers extended several rallies throughout the match including in the second set but were defeated by Southeastern 3-0 (25-9, 25-14, 25-12) on Tuesday night at the University Center.

Two kills and a block opened a little distance on an early lead for the Lions as they went to the first called timeout of the opening set up 13-8. Out of the timeout, Southeastern's attack continued to stay efficient with only one error and a .520 hitting percentage in 25 attempts. The Lions also added four blocks and three service aces in the first set.

New Orleans played the first 12 rallies on even terms with the Lions but the home side again hit a sizable run. This one carried a stretch where the home team scored on 10 of 11 rallies which included three kills from Hannah Brewer in that stretch.

Some intense rallies dotted the second set with two going over 30 seconds in length but when the dust settled, Southeastern racked up another 15 kills to extend their lead in the match to 2-0.

Set three saw the Lions steadily grow their lead. They did it primarily through the service game as the Lions recorded six aces. Southeastern hit .369 as a team for the match.

INSIDE THE BOX
