NEW ORLEANS – One day after picking up the first Div. I win of his coaching career,
Stacy Hollowell's Privateers (1-3) had a day to forget, falling to the Stonehill Skyhawks (2-3) by a score of 80-54 on Friday afternoon at the UMPE Events Center in Moon Township, Pa.
The Privateers were ice cold from the floor in the first half, connecting on just 7 of 32 shots (21.9%) and only 1 of 11 from beyond the arc (9%). The Skyhawks, on the other hand, knocked down 14 of 27 first-half shots (51.9%) and 8 of 15 from three-point range (53.3%) on their way to a 44-19 halftime lead.
New Orleans wouldn't fare much better in the second half, at one point trailing by 34 with 12:10 remaining. Although the Privateers and Stonehill played an even game in the second half, UNO still shot under 30 percent (28.6%) and just 26.7 percent from beyond the arc.
Positives for the Privateers include committing just nine turnovers and forcing 17 Skyhawk turnovers, including 12 steals. New Orleans also pulled down 19 offensive rebounds compared to Stonehill's seven.
Theo Grant finished with a new career-high 15 points, including a pair of two-handed dunks late in the contest. The junior made 5-of-9 shots in 17 minutes of play.
Kohen Rowbatham also set a career-high, finishing with five points in 15 minutes of action.
James White finished with 10 points and has now scored in double-figures in all three games during his time at UNO. The three-time transfer also grabbed eight rebounds, the most by a Privateer on Friday afternoon.
Former UIW Cardinal Josh Morgan, playing in his eighth game against the Privateers, finished with 20 points on 6-of-11 shooting and 10 rebounds to lead Stonehill. Chas Stinson scored 15 points, while Todd Brogna added 12 for the Skyhawks.
