WACO, Texas –
Nora Francois had a strong first half, but the Baylor Bears relied on hot shooting early to score an 84-58 decision over the New Orleans Privateers on Friday afternoon at Foster Pavilion.
Francois had a blazing hot start to the day as she accounted for the first 13 points for the Privateers. Through the first nine minutes, New Orleans kept close tabs on Baylor as they only trailed 20-18 with 53 seconds remaining in the opening stanza.
However, the Bears hit a six-point mini spurt in the final 53 seconds to take an eight-point lead into the second quarter. Though, Francois racked up 20 points in the first half alone, the Bears were able to respond behind hot perimeter shooting.
The Bears were 6-of-8 from downtown and shot 71 percent in total in the first half. Baylor took a 53-37 advantage into the halftime locker room.
New Orleans did force 13 Baylor turnovers in the second half and the Bears had 20 total miscues for the game.
After some offensive fireworks in the first half it became more of a defensive game out of the locker room. There were eight total points scored in the first four minutes of the third quarter (six by Baylor and two by New Orleans).
Five Bears were in double-figures led by Aaronette Vonleh's 20 points and 12 rebounds. Darianna Littlepage-Buggs also had a double-double with 14 points and 12 boards. Sarah Andrews had eight points and eight assists.

Francois finished with 26 points and tied a single-game high for three-pointers made with four.
Alexis Calderon had 10 points and five assists.
Jasmine Jones finished with eight points and
Jayla Kimbrough added seven.
NEXT UP
The Privateers' next game will be on Dec. 18 when they travel to Birmingham to face UAB. Tip is scheduled for 11 a.m.
