HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The New Orleans Privateers men's tennis team battled and picked up a pair of singles wins but it was not enough as they lost 5-2 to the Southern Miss Golden Eagles on Monday afternoon.

The day started with the Golden Eagles taking the doubles point. Their #1 and #3 pairs both won 6-3 to secure the doubles point. They were also ahead at the remaining court by the score of 5-4 when the doubles point was decided.

Henry Lamchinniah only conceded one game at flight six and Pasawee Reansuwong won 6-2, 7-5 at flight five which were a couple of key early points in the singles bouts.

The Privateers got wins from
Luke Joujan and
David Tesic. Tesic was efficient in putting away Saheb Sodhi 6-3, 6-2. Meanwhile, Joujan played a gutsy match against Shamirul Shahril. After Joujan won the first set in a tiebreak, Shahril earned a single break in the second set. Joujan came back to win the deciding set 6-4.

The Golden Eagles won the remaining two matches though including a comeback win at flight one. Dakotah Bobo did not win a game in the first set against
Marcel Volz. The remaining two sets went down to the wire though. Bobo won 7-4 in a second set tiebreaker and got a late service break to take the third set 7-5.

Olimjon Nabiev won his match 7-6 (5), 6-3.

NEXT UP
The Privateers are slated for their first home match of the season this weekend when they face Mississippi Valley State on Saturday. First serve is scheduled for 11 a.m.
