Men's Tennis Notches Pair of Singles Wins, Falls in Match to Southern Miss

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The New Orleans Privateers men's tennis team battled and picked up a pair of singles wins but it was not enough as they lost 5-2 to the Southern Miss Golden Eagles on Monday afternoon.

The day started with the Golden Eagles taking the doubles point. Their #1 and #3 pairs both won 6-3 to secure the doubles point. They were also ahead at the remaining court by the score of 5-4 when the doubles point was decided.

Henry Lamchinniah only conceded one game at flight six and Pasawee Reansuwong won 6-2, 7-5 at flight five which were a couple of key early points in the singles bouts.

The Privateers got wins from Luke Joujan and David Tesic. Tesic was efficient in putting away Saheb Sodhi 6-3, 6-2. Meanwhile, Joujan played a gutsy match against Shamirul Shahril. After Joujan won the first set in a tiebreak, Shahril earned a single break in the second set. Joujan came back to win the deciding set 6-4.

The Golden Eagles won the remaining two matches though including a comeback win at flight one. Dakotah Bobo did not win a game in the first set against Marcel Volz. The remaining two sets went down to the wire though. Bobo won 7-4 in a second set tiebreaker and got a late service break to take the third set 7-5.

Olimjon Nabiev won his match 7-6 (5), 6-3.
