Volz, Joujan Win Matches but Tulane Defeats Privateers

NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers men's tennis team flipped one match in their favor from the first meeting but the Tulane Green Wave notched a 5-2 victory on Friday at City Park Tennis Courts.

Luke Joujan, as he did in the first match, scored a flight two victory. This time he played a different opponent. Alex Bancila opposed him and Joujan lost the first set 6-4. He rallied back though and took a 10-point super tiebreak in the third set for a 4-6, 6-3, 10-4 victory.

The second point came from Marcel Volz who won at flight one. Volz was locked in an intense battle against Billy Suarez. The two exchanged tiebreak wins in the first two sets. It came down to a race to 10 points in the third, which Volz won 10-8.

The rest of the day went to the Green Wave. Between Tulane's three doubles teams, they only lost three games as they got the first point of the afternoon.

Flights three through six also went to the Green Wave in straight sets. Luka Petrovic was the first off court after a 6-1, 6-2 win at flight three. Sam Scherer followed with a 6-3, 6-2 victory at flight six.

The match clinching point was won by Rafael de Alba who did not drop a game in the second set of his 6-4, 6-0 victory. Fynn Kuenkler also won for the Green Wave as he notched a 7-5, 6-2 decision at flight four.

We invite you to become more involved with the only University that truly represents New Orleans all day, every day.  Join #NOLAsTeam, We Are Your Krewe!
