Calloway Slugs Four Home Runs as Privateers Split Doubleheader

CARROLLTON, Ga. – A long day at the ballpark featured a power display by the New Orleans Privateers that earned them a 13-6 win in the nightcap of a doubleheader against the West Georgia Wolves. The Wolves won the first game 11-10 on a walk-off as the teams split the two contests.

GAME TWO
NEW ORLEANS-13 WEST GEORGIA-6, 5 INNINGS
The Privateers wasted no time jumping on top in the second game of the doubleheader after the first two batters produced extra base hits. Diego Villescas tripled and was brought home on an Alexander Saunier double.

Three batters later, Bryce Calloway hit his first homer of the game, which drove in a pair to make it 3-0.

The Wolves rallied to tie it after two innings, but the Privateers got back in front once again. A four-run third inning that featured another two-run blast from Calloway extended the New Orleans lead to 7-3.

West Georgia came back to draw within a run after scoring three in the fourth. The last of those runs came when Blake Bradford doubled to score Landon Weidner.

New Orleans delivered the knockout blow in the fifth though as they plated six runs. Calloway drove in two more runs and Collin Loupe, making his first start of the year, tripled in two more. Loupe went 3-for-3 and needed a home run to complete the cycle.

The game was called as visibility continued to deteriorate as the game went further into the night.

Sawyer Toney gave up a run in 2.1 innings and picked up his first win in a Privateer uniform.

GAME ONE
WEST GEORGIA-11 NEW ORLEANS-10
The Privateers turned up the heat after falling behind by five runs at one point and grabbed a late lead but West Georgia rallied to tie it in the eighth and won the game on a walk-off sac fly by Cooper Prince.

What was a battle of the pitchers to start turned into a hitting display in the second half of the game. The Wolves led 2-1 when Noah Darden hit a grand slam to right that extended the Wolves' lead to five.

The Privateers came back against the Wolves' bullpen though as they scored three in the sixth. They then scored three in the seventh when Bryan Loriga, Tristan Moore and Calloway hit back-to-back-to-back home runs to tie the game at 7-7.

Moore launched his second homer of the game in the eighth to vault the Privateers in front and Collin Husser followed with his second double of the game that added a run to the lead. However, West Georgia tied it in the eighth and loaded the bases with no outs in the ninth.

Carson Kimball struck out Tyler Presnell, but Prince delivered the game winning tally as he drove a ball deep enough to right-center to score Bradford.

Gavin Mask pitched a scoreless ninth inning to pick up the win for West Georgia.
