NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers men's tennis team swept the board in doubles as they defeated the Alcorn State Braves 6-1 on Saturday afternoon at the Privateer Tennis Center.
Alcorn State snatched the early momentum by scoring the doubles point. The Braves won at flight one and three by the score of 6-4 to take the first point of the day.
Joseph Townes and
Jay Temming won 6-0 for the Privateers at flight two.
In singles though, New Orleans took off to extend their record to 4-2. There were two sets the Privateers won 6-0 in singles:
Sep de Visser's first set and Temming's second set.
Marc Mail, playing at flight one on the day, only dropped five games as he coasted past Nikola Kajic 6-4, 6-1.
David Tesic also notched a straight set victory as he beat David Leon 6-3, 6-4 at flight four.
Julian Franzmann had to rally from a set down but was strong in the last two sets as he won 3-6, 6-2, 6-1 over Emmanuel Cottle. Also, Townes had two long sets that he was able to come out on the right side of in a 6-4, 7-5 win over Fabian Juarez.
The win extends the Privateers' winning streak to 14 over the Braves on the tennis court.
