Men's Tennis Moves to 7-3 After Win Over Bryant

NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers men's tennis team put up a solid performance across the board as they defeated the Bryant Bulldogs 6-1 on Wednesday afternoon at the Privateer Tennis Center.

The day started with a clinical doubles point played by the top two flights. Matthew Armbruster and Sep de Visser were quick off the court after a 6-1 win at flight one. Not far behind were Joseph Townes and Jay Temming who continue to form a fierce duo.

Townes and Temming are now 7-1 while paired together this season after their 6-2 win clinched the doubles point.

Once it got to singles, the Privateers kept the momentum on their side. It started with de Visser who engineered a straight set victory, winning 6-2, 6-3 at flight six.

"This is a tough team. They're showing their depth and they are mentally tough," said Coach Burzis Kanga. "This team has a lot of potential and they're playing great tennis. I feel like they're clicking on all cylinders."

Then, Marc Mail pushed the Privateers to the brink of victory after a 6-1, 6-1 win at flight one. The match was clinched when Julian Franzmann earned a service break late in the second set to win 6-4, 7-5.

David Tesic gutted out a long first set and started quickly in the second set of his 7-5, 6-1 win. Townes was the last match to finish as he rallied from a set down and earned a service break from down 40-15 in the deciding game to win 3-6, 6-4, 6-4.

Bryant snagged their lone point at flight two with a 6-4, 6-4 victory.
