NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers women's tennis team, which played with only five available players, suffered a 4-0 defeat at the hands of the Rhode Island Rams on Thursday at the Privateer Tennis Center.
Fleur Sprengers and
Kateryna Kalistratova were in control in their doubles match, leading 4-1 over Nikki Fernando and Katharina Spieth when the doubles point was decided. The Rams got a 6-1 win at flight two and a forfeit win at flight three.
In singles, the Rams already notched a point at flight six after the Privateers could not field a complete lineup. The other two victories came at flight three and four.
Fernando only lost two games in a 6-2, 6-0 victory. Grace Darcy only lost one game in a 6-0, 6-1 victory.
Kalistratova was down a set but won the first game of her second set when the match was called. Sprengers was leading 6-5 in the first set of her match.
Iris Danne was early in the second set after losing the first 6-3 at flight five.
