HAMMOND, La. –
Hayden O'Dell pitched 7.1 solid innings and
Bryce Calloway picked up his second save of the tournament as the New Orleans Privateers defeated the Northwestern State Demons 3-2 to advance to the Hammond bracket final.

After
Sawyer Toney finished out the eighth inning, Calloway came on in the ninth to shut the door. He struck out Balin Valentine, then got a ground out and a fly out to preserve his 10
th save of the season.

It was a battle between O'Dell and Demons starter, Tyler Bryan early as neither team scored until the fourth inning. That's when Calloway drove a ball to right field for a solo home run, his third of the tournament that put the Privateers on top 1-0.

Northwestern State tied it in the sixth inning when Valentine hit a two-out single to center that scored Samuel Stephenson, but the Privateers took the lead right back in the bottom of the frame.

Matt Gonzalez and Calloway both worked walks against Bryan. A wild pitch advanced both runners ahead of
Tristan Moore who drove a ball deep enough for a sac fly RBI to give the Privateers a 2-1 edge.

New Orleans extended their lead an inning later when a single dropped into shallow center off the bat of Gonzalez that scored
Diego Villescas.

O'Dell had a season-high 7.1 innings pitched and allowed just three hits and one earned run (two total). He struck out four batters on the night.

Bryan (2-7) took the loss for the Demons. He allowed two runs on four hits and two walks in six innings. Stephenson had a solo home run in the eighth inning.
