NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers women's tennis team put together a strong effort and pushed the Northwestern State Lady Demons to the wire but fell on the short end of a 4-3 decision on Friday at the Jack Fischer Tennis Complex.
The Lady Demons got a win from Sofi Garcia at flight five to finish off the match in their favor. Garcia won the first set 6-2 and had the same score line in the third set to give Northwestern State the win.

Ananya Dhankhar picked up a flight six win in singles. Dhankhar came through a grueling first set 7-5 and bounced back after dropping the second set to win the decider by a double break.
New Orleans also got wins from the top two spots in the lineup.
Fleur Sprengers continued her undefeated start to the season in singles with another straight set victory. Sprengers defeated Honoka Umeda 6-3, 6-2 to move her singles record on the year to 9-0.
Kateryna Kalistratova moved to 7-1 on the season by collecting another straight set victory. Kalistratova topped Maria Farina 6-4, 6-3 as the Privateers got on the board after Northwestern State won the first three points of the day.
The Lady Demons won in doubles at flight one (6-2) and flight three (6-0) to take the first point of the afternoon.
In singles, Martina Acebedo 6-0, 6-0 in the first singles match to finish. Athina Grigoriadou took her match 6-1, 6-2 at flight three.
